Sprint-car racing turned upside-down

Todd Henrich's Press Box Views

"Sprint-car racing turned upside-down

For everything that the Petty name means to NASCAR, the Kinser name might mean even more to the World of Outlaws.
Steve Kinser has won 19 Outlaws championships dominating what for years has been recognized as sprint-car racing's premier series. Cousin Mark has his share of championships, and Steve Kinser's son, Kraig, won this year's Knoxville Nationals, the Super Bowl of the Outlaws series.

But within the last week, sprint-car racing has gone for a flip wilder than you've seen from any of the winged machines that make the twice annual trek to Eagle Raceway. Kinser, along with several of the sport's biggest names, announced they would ditch the Outlaws next season for the newly created National SprintCar League.

The new owners: Petty Enterprises."
